posted 09-08-2000 04:17 PM Mr. Smartie Pants just upgraded to athlon 800 and voodoo 5500..so I copied my Microprose folder with EAW and ALL my addons (stab,snm,ECA,ECAO,ECApanel,RIP,1.2,FM selector, etc.) and I noticed 2 things:

1) All my copied files have become 'READ ONLY' (all 400 of 'em or whatever)
2) I keep getting error 7217 when I try to start EAW (direct draw error)..computer came with directx 6.1a installed but that shouldnt be the problem..

Looks like I have to reinstall EVERYTHING again by hand unless somebody has a QUICK fix..hehe..

Anybody get that 7217 error with Voodoo 5500?

Download Wii Play ROM for Nintendo Wii(Wii ISOs) and Play Wii Play Video Game on your PC, Mac, Android or iOS device! Remember that the ROM is only one part. In order to use this Wii Play ROM you will need to download a Nintendo Wii emulator. There are emulators for different platforms like Windows, Android, iOS and Mac OS X. The Wii happens to be the only remaining console that can run Gamecube games natively, although with a little hacking it can be run on the Wii U. Nowadays, lots of users downloading emulators and playing Nintendo Wii roms games on their stationary computers or laptops. Wii play rom Wii Play includes nine different games like billiards, archery, table tennis, Mii search, Mii posing, fishing, laser hockey, power charging, tanks. Each game has different ways of playing and rules. In the game, you can use an existing Mii character as your avatar. In this version, players continue to control the characters using the Wii remote.

posted 09-08-2000 05:52 PM Hiya Mus,

Bummer about the problems. That's usually a video driver or directx version problem. As tech support 'would' say, be sure you've installed the most recent drivers!

For Skins-n-More, as long as you put EAW back to it's original location when you re-install it (i.e. where it is now) you should be OK. Just make sure you copy the 'snmtextures' folder and it's sub-folders somewhere else temporarily then move them back under European Air War and you should be good to go. The data base files are all under 'snmtextures', so if they remain intact you shouldn't lose any registered textures.

Hmmm, I'll have to write a utility to traverse a specified folder and all it's sub-folders and clear the 'read only' attribute - to avoid the manual method for when that 'global' read only thingmie is done..

posted 09-08-2000 07:35 PM Starting from your EAW folder, select all the files in the folder using the arrow key/mouse and shift. When all the files are highlighted right click and select properties. Then deselect the check mark beside Read Only. You'll have to do the same in your addon directories. Hope that helps. Posts: 459 From: London, Ontario. Canada Registered: Sep 1999 IP: Logged

posted 09-11-2000 07:27 PM Musgrove!

I just fired up the Athlon 800, V5-5500 combo, and am having startup problems galore!

Installed DirectX7.0a, and that solved the display issues OK, but my sound is terrible. Soundblaster Live! card and MLi-170 speakers (which are low end, I know), but really crappy sound.

Also, and this is the BIG one, after completeting a mission, when I get into the debriefing screens, the clicker on my mouse quits working! The mouse still moves around all right, and highlites all the choices, but can't select anything, including escape-which means I have to reboot. Any ideas?

posted 09-11-2000 07:52 PM I am using SB 128, not Live..so I'm not sure about that, but you may want to upgrade your drivers. Not sure about the mouse..are you using Meatwater's sounds? Bruno Weiss posted on the ECA Online forum about the install *.dll's from Meatwater messing up voodoo5500..if you have Meatwater's sounds try deleting _deisreg.isr, _isreg32.dll and DelsL1.isu and see if that helps..make sure you have Explorer on to show 'hidden files' so you
can find these install files

good luck

posted 09-12-2000 09:29 AM Ok, I set the color to High Bit 16, and the sound to 8 bit (just doing the color thing didn't do the trick), and I was able to complete a mission in the campaign mode (and bag two Spitfires in the bargain!). I just hope that solves the problem for good.

BTW, you know those screenshots of the Me109's from Il-2? I swear that the ones in EAW look just as good with 4xFSAA!
